Hiroshi Yamauchi

I'm sure most of you know by now but yesterday morning Hiroshi Yamauchi, former president of Nintendo, died at the age of 85.

Yamauchi turned Nintendo into a video game company, oversaw them from the NES to the Gamecube, sowed the seed for the DS and hired legends like Shigeru Miyamoto and Gunpei Yokoi.

Without him and his iron fist yet hands on management style we would not have the industry we know and love today. He is, arguably, the single greatest man to have graced the industry and he will certainly be missed.

RIP Mr. Yamauchi
